Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

This is my favorite time of the year. I used to dislike Christmas so much until I got married. My parents never made Christmas about Jesus or family and we usually just ate and later everyone would leave to do their own thing. My last real Christmas present was when I was 11 years old and after that my parents just gave us money... yeah, pretty sad.
Jared taught me about the true meaning of Christmas and family. He taught me that it is better to give than to receive, and that having the latest piece of clothing or jewelry won't bring me happiness. The last few Christmases, Jared and I bought hardly any presents for ourselves. We enjoy seeing Mario opening presents, bonding with family, eating great food and making wonderful memories that bring us closer as a family.
We spent Christmas eve with Jared's family and Christmas day on our own. I really appreciate having a special program in which we talk about Jesus before opening presents, it makes everything more meaningful.
I am really grateful for the opportunity to have Christ in my life. I wish a lot of people would remember Jesus Christ more and try to make fun, clean family memories because I think the only thing that we will always cherish are the good memories we make with our families.  I am still learning and I know someday I will be the perfect mother, wife and friend that I am meant to be; that is one of the promises I have in my patriarcal blessing.

Christmas Eve (December 24th)

Santa Claus came to visit Mario at his Grandparents' house. Mario was upset with Santa because Santa gave him a "crappy piece of candy" instead of the toy car he asked for when we were in Utah. Santa promised Mario that he would bring all the toys that he wanted, and he did.

Christmas Day (December 25th)

Mario was so happy and excited. He couldn't believe that Santa actually brought him all the toys he asked for.  After opening presents we made some breakfast burritos (yes, we are proud New Mexicans) and a Dominican drink called "Morir SoƱando" which is like an orange julius but without the egg.
I didn't take very many pictures of Mario opening presents this year but I recorded Mario going down the stairs and seeing all the presents for the first time which is priceless.

Jared opening presents.

Jared teaching Mario how to play chess.

In other exciting news,  our baby will be born in less than 50 days! We are really excited about finally meeting this little man face to face. Being pregnant is not my favorite thing in the world; I like feeling the baby kicking but that's about it. I must say that this pregnancy has been nicer than my last one but I still get really impatient because I want to hold my little guy. I know I will regret those words when I can't sleep through the night...

Utah Trip

We had a wonderful family vacation in Salt Lake. Jared and I have been to Salt Lake before but this time we had a great time and we did everything we planned to do. We got to see things that we have never seen before thanks to two sister missionaries who were very kind and sweet to us.

Mario took these pictures of us. He was having a great time. Jared and I are so grateful for this little guy; after a 9 hour car ride, he was as sweet and kind as always. He was so excited about getting to know his cousins.  I think his favorites were Noah, Mila and Kina.
He was also excited to learn that Grandpa Michael has a mom and that she is papi's grandma.

On Friday night, we had our family date at Temple Square. It was so nice to spend some quality time with my guys. First we took a horse carriage ride around Temple Square. Later we went to the Assembly Hall next to the temple and enjoyed a Christmas concert for free, they sang all my favorite Christmas songs.  We were planning to go to the Garden Restaurant but we were not that hungry so we stayed inside the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and learned about family history.  That same night around midnight we had a pizza party in our hotel. We watched Wall-E.

The next day, I went to a Dominican beauty salon in Salt Lake. It was a cultural shock for me again: it felt as if I was in the Dominican Republic again. The lady fixed my hair very well, but she cut too much which didn't please me at all. In the afternoon we met at Tucanos for lunch with all the family and with my great friends Yreany, Tyson and their cute daughters.

The last day, Sunday.
We stayed the whole weekend at the Little America and I must say that hotel was a beautiful place. Our room was great and we had a great view.  We had brunch with Grandma Joy, The Hatches, The Dunlaps and Jared's parents. It was a great buffet and a great place to celebrate Grandma's birthday.
Mario got to see Santa and asked him for a toy car. Santa gave Mario a sweet candy cane. The next morning he was excitedly eating his candy cane until it broke and he came to me to tell me that "the candy cane is a piece of crap" hahaha. I couldn't believe he just told me that.  I guess after that incident he is not expecting very much from Santa.

The following pictures are our family pictures.

I am so glad we got to visit Utah and see Jared's beautiful family and bond with them. It was a lovely visit, and I was happy to see that everybody is doing so well and how blessed they all are. I think it was one of the best Christmas vacations ever for me, for us.

Mario's Christmas Picture 2010

I took some cute pictures of Mario yesterday and he is such a fun little guy who has become Mami's little helper.  I like this first picture, his hair is crazy curly and I wanted to share with all of you before I gave him his yearly haircut.
I really love to spend time with him. I feel really grateful for Mario.  Jared and I are so in love with him, sometimes is really hard to think how can we love another baby as much as we love Mario. I got another ultrasound and the baby again came out looking so much like Mario, and we are hoping that this baby is not just like Mario in his looks but also in his personality. I know, I am asking to much.

He told me: Mami, the sun is too bright. Mario doesn't like it.
He still talks in the third person.

So far everything is going well.

This post is just out of boredom.  I have been sick for almost two months and three days ago I finally lost my voice. Tonight when I was putting Mario to bed, he looked at Jared and told him: "Mami can't read Belly Button book, Daddy you read Belly Button book", and that is how I ended up sitting in front of the computer thinking what else to do.  I guess after this post I might take a hot shower and go to bed.
Last week I went out with my friend Emily to celebrate her birthday but before I left, Mario, Jared and I took some pictures using the Photo Booth application. He loves it and he wouldn't let me go unless I took some silly pictures with him.

I ordered this dessert, a nice butter cake with a weird but yummy sauce.
I take pictures of pretty food because I really enjoy it.

What else? Well, I got braces two months ago. They hurt when I get them tightened but those things are doing wonders with my teeth. I look like a pregnant teenager with those things on; well, that's better than looking older I guess.

My friends from the Santa Fe ward had a small baby shower for me. I really don't need anything because I have a lot of things from Mario but it was a nice gesture. I wasn't feeling really well and my eyes were really bad thanks to the Graves Disease but besides that I had fun.

We also got a nine foot Christmas tree for less than 200 bucks at Walmart and I love it. Yes, Walmart always has the best deals. Mario is so in love with that Christmas tree. I love Christmas so much more now because I can see how much Mario is enjoying it. He is so excited about Santa Claus and baby Jesus.

Too excited to go to sleep.

Thanksgiving 2010.

I wasn't really thinking of posting pictures of my naked belly but I am so proud of my belly so bear with me.
I love my HUGE belly, and how chubby and cute I look when I am pregnant.  I love how Jared and Mario kiss my belly and how careful and tender both of them are with me. I am a really lucky woman to  have these wonderful men in my life.  The baby is doing just perfect. I am 30 weeks pregnant, almost done! I am really happy with my little family :)
