Pinball, food!

After rebuilding the high voltage section of my pinball machine's power supply, only the bottom to displays worked! Here's a picture of the old display board. The top two alphanumeric displays have outgassed; the bottom two work great!

Each display glass costs around $40 to replace. Instead of just buying two new displays and replacing them, I bought a whole new display board with four new displays! These new displays are LEDs so they only need 5v instead of the 100v the old plasma displays needed. Also, the LEDs should last a lot longer! Here's a photo of the new display board:

Here's a pic showing the working display!

On Monday, we had the missionaries over for dinner. Jenny made some delicious food: Smashed potatoes, salad, and shrimp! The food was so good and looked so pretty we had to take some photos. Here they are:

I haven't posted for a while so I thought I'd update our blog. First off, Jenny and I purchased a year long membership to the zoo. We get free admission to the zoo, aquarium, botanical gardens, and "Tingley Beach" for a year! The membership also gives us free admission to most of the zoos around the country and discounted admission at the others. We saw a lot of cool animals when we went last week and the part we liked the most was feeding the lorikeets. Here're some pics:

Rafting down the Rio Grande

Yesterday we went rafting down the Rio Grande with my family. It was fun! Jenny was really nervous and scared about going but once we were on the river, she loved it! The river is low this year so the rapids weren't strong but it was still a lot of fun. Jenny and I were in a raft with Jessica and Sebastian and my parents were in a raft with Jacob and Sam. After the rafting, we went to see the Rio Grande gorge bridge and later we went to dinner at Orlando's New Mexican food in Taos. Here're some pics:

Portable air conditioner, woot!

Jenny and I just bought a portable air conditioner from and it arrived yesterday. We both agree that it was one of the best investments we've made. Our house has an evaporative cooler (swamp cooler) but there is only one air duct and it's in the hallway so it effectively cools the living room and hall but the bedrooms stay in the 90's. This air conditioner is awesome. We've been running it non-stop since yesterday and our room is now a comfortable 73ยบ F. We moved an old table into our room so Jenny can do her homework in the comfort of refrigerated air. We have a wireless router so we can also use our laptops in the nice cool room. Here're some pics:

I just hope our electric bill isn't through the roof this month! When the AC kicks into full gear, the lights dim in the house for a second. Well, it's only 9000btu so hopefully it won't be too bad.

One last picture. Our new family portrait: Jenny, me and the AC
